Neophytos Charalambidis from DIKO was elected the new deputy mayor of Limassol with 15 votes in favor.
His rival Haris Trikkis from DISY received 12 votes.
26 Municipal Councilors and the Mayor of Limassol voted. The procedure was determined after the election of Nikos Sykas in the seats of Parliament.
Shortly before the election process, the municipal councilor, Prodromos Ttopouzis of the Solidarity Movement, withdrew his candidacy.
The new deputy mayor was born in Limassol in 1978. He is a lawyer, holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Vocational Education (Barrister-at-Law) and holds a Master's degree in Law. He was the President of NEDIK Limassol.
He is a member of the Central Committee of DIKO and District Secretary of DIKO in Limassol. He was chairman of the Cultural Committee of the Municipality of Limassol. He is married and has a child.
