Strategic steps towards the EOA of Nicosia
On the route for the modernization of local self-government, SYL leads through the “green”, with destination the new Nicosia District Self-Government Organization.
The director of the Nicosia Water Supply Board and temporary administrator of the EOA of Nicosia, Konstantinos Parmaklis, received today a total of nine NISSAN LEAF electric vehicles, from the Pilakoutas Group, for the purpose of replacing the conventional vehicles of the Council's technical services.
In statements following the delivery of the new modern vehicles, Mr. Parmaklis said that with the receipt of the 9 electric vehicles, the Council is making another move towards the goal of reducing pollutants in the atmosphere, while later they will proceed with further replacement of all the conventional vehicles they have. This move follows a series of decisions by SYL to reduce its environmental footprint, such as sending citizens' accounts in electronic form.
For her part, the Head of Business Development of the Pilakoutas Group, Klelia Pilakoutas Christoforou, noted that the new NISSAN LEAFs are not just sophisticated transport vehicles, they are symbols of change, pioneering and the deep understanding that a better future requires responsibility and action. “At the Pilakouta Group we are dedicated to the promotion of sustainable mobility, with many solutions from the extensive range of the nine internationally renowned brands that we represent”, indicated Mrs. Pilakouta.

The receipt of the vehicles is part of a wider series of actions carried out by the SYL, in the context of the full integration of the Council into the body of the new Nicosia Provincial Self-Governing Organization, which is expected to be operational in June 2024.
Among other things, the manager of the project, Konstantinos Parmaklis, proceeded the previous Friday 8/12/23, to present the progress of the reform before the Minister of the Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou, while yesterday Monday 11/12/23 they were informed about the same procedures, unions, workers and members of the boards of directors of SYL, SAL and the Provisional Coordinating Council.
In particular, Mr. Parmaklis explained how the organization chart works, as well as aspects of the legislation governing the staff's work status.
At the same time, tomorrow Wednesday 12/13/23, the renovated office facilities and material warehouses of the new organization, which will be officially received by the project manager, during an opening ceremony, while next Friday 15/12/23 ETEK members will visit the new modern water tanks of EOA Nicosia.
The new tanks will increase the useful time of water storage to twenty-six hours, giving the necessary time to SYL crews to proceed with damage corrections in areas where there are problems in the water supply network, without interrupting the water supply.
