The issue concerns citizens with coronavirus who are now being called upon to manage the symptoms of post-Covid. According to the head of the epidemiological team, Dr. Konstantinos Tsiotis, one in three who are found to be positive for the coronavirus is expected to show long-term or even chronic symptoms, with research to treat post-Covid syndrome still in its early stages. Most worrying, however, are the effects of coronavirus in children, following the detection of cases of MIS-C syndrome, even in people who did not develop any symptoms during their illness.

A boy, just 12 months old, has been hospitalized in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Makarios Hospital since last Saturday after complications due to his health, which were caused by MIS-C syndrome, which affects children after a coronavirus infection. Two more children, aged 9 and 12, are being treated at Makareio Hospital, while one of them was previously treated at the ICU, from which he was discharged. MIS-C syndrome, according to the director of the Pediatric Clinic of Makareio Hospital, Dr. Abraham Elias, is a late complication of Covid-19 disease, which manifests itself two to six weeks after the disease. During the aforementioned period the child may suddenly develop a high fever, rashes on the extremities and an affected general condition. Early intervention and treatment are of particular importance for the treatment and development of children's health.
