Government employment increased by 2.3% year-on-year in February, driven by the increase in temporary staff employment, which reached 11%.
In particular, according to data from the Statistical Service, employment in the Government in February 2022 increased by 1,221 people, compared to the corresponding month of 2021 and reached 53,702 people.
The number of permanent staff decreased by 645 people or 2.4%, from 26,775 to 26,130 people, while the number of temporary staff increased by 1,876 people or 10.8%, reaching 19,279 compared to 17,403 people in February 2021. .
Compared to February 2021 there is an increase in all categories of staff, Public Service (0.1%), Education Service (7.2%) and Security Forces (1.5 %).
There is a decrease in the permanent staff in all three categories, with the largest being presented to the staff of the Public Service (-2.9%). On the contrary, there is an increase in the temporary staff in all three categories with the staff of the Educational Service presenting the largest (23.8%). in February 2021.
Compared to January 2022, there is an increase in the staff of the Educational Service (2.3%), a decrease in the staff of the Security Forces (-0.4%) while the staff of the Public Service remains stable.
In the permanent staff there is a decrease in all three categories, with the largest being presented to the staff of the Security Forces (-0.4%). In the temporary staff there is an increase in the staff of the Public Service (0.2%) and the Educational Service (6.0%) while there is a decrease in the staff of the Security Forces (-0.4%).
In Hourly Staff is increased (0.3%) compared to January 2022, notes the Statistical Service.
