A new round of consultations between employers and unions begins, with the mediation of the Ministry of Labor on the collective agreement in the hotel industry
< p>The start of a new, intensive round of consultationsbetween employers and unions, with the mediation of the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance, in order to agree a collective contract for the hotel industry, announced today the Minister, Yiannis Panagiotou, after the meeting he had this afternoon in his office with the social partners.
“The social partners agreed on the immediate intensification of cooperation with my mediation in this, to reach an agreement on the renewal of the sectoral contract”, the Minister said in his statements after the meeting. He also added that the implementation of a moratorium of public placements by both sides was also agreed, so that this process would be assisted”.
He also noted that the employer and trade union organizations showed a positive attitude, while he expressed his optimism “for a short conclusion to a mutually acceptable agreement, in the context of an effort which begins to be implemented immediately”. The goal, as Mr. Panagiotou said, is to hold meetings with the two sides in the next few days, and in the next period joint meetings.
When asked by a journalist if more specific timetables have been set, he expressed his appreciation that “through the intensification of efforts, through my own contribution to the development of this process, with the cooperation of the officials of the Ministry of Labor and the social partners, we will manage in the next period to reach positive results, so that the sectoral contract of the hotel industry to be renewed”.
The Minister underlined that “the preservation of labor peace is necessary for the development of the economy and the cohesion of society, under conditions of normality and stability”, noting that “the renewal of the sectoral agreement in the hotel industry is a pivotal point in this direction”.
