No effect on efficacy and tolerability of vaccinated individuals was found in the combination of AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 with BioNTech / Pfizer vaccine, according to research by the University Hospital of Berlin, Charité.
The research concerns the vaccination with AstraZeneca for the first dose and with BioNTech / Pfizer for the second, with a time interval of 10-12 weeks between the two. According to the results, the combination is well tolerated and elicits an immune response similar to that of the two-dose BioNTech / Pfizer vaccine.
The study was conducted following the recommendation of the Standing Committee on Vaccination, in order to provide answers to cases of rare but serious complications following the administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine, especially in young people.
