The wind was so strong that even a huge palm tree fell outside the courtyard of the Ministry of Interior in Nicosia. One can wonder what the outcome would be if one were passing by that point at that moment.
So far no injuries have been reported while the Fire Service is on foot in various areas of Cyprus, due to the strong winds that prevail from Wednesday morning (10/11).
In the meantime, in another incident, there was a fall of a lighting pole at 14:00, on Limassol Avenue, in Nicosia. The Spokesperson of the Fire Service, Andreas Kettis stated that due to the strong winds, the Nicosia Fire Stations responded to 10 incidents so far involving falling / moving trees (areas of Strovolos, Engomi, Lakatamia and Kaimakli). The Larnaca Fire Stations responded to an incident in Livadia and specifically to a fire in a palm tree due to sparks of EAC cables.
