Police officers stopped at around 8.40 last night for a check, a car in which two men aged 23 and 30 and a woman aged 32 were riding.
During the inspection, according to the Police, it was found that there was a large amount of tobacco products inside the vehicle. The vehicle and its occupants were transported to the Nicosia Central Police Station to verify their details.
Officers of the Customs Department were called and went to the Station where they inspected the tobacco products that had been found in the vehicle of the above and it was found that it was 43 kilos of tobacco which were confiscated.
The above persons were arrested by a Customs Officer for the offense of possession of duty-free tobacco and were settled out of court with the payment of the amount of € 15,500.
The Customs Department continues the examinations.
