Nine additional deaths were announced by the Ministry. Health… (GENDER AND AGE)

In the context of the annual recording of data by the Health Monitoring Unit, the Ministry of Health has updated the database it maintains for patient deaths, having recorded and verified all the data reported in the previous months to the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit.

As part of this screening, it appears that the total number of patients who died of an underlying cause of COVID-19 disease as of September 15 is 544 and not 535, as reported in yesterday's regular update.

Specifically, the 9 deaths that were declared out of time concern:
1. A 75-year-old woman who died on December 12, 2020 at the Old Larnaca Hospital.
2. A woman, aged 88, who died on August 3, 2021 at the Limassol General Hospital.
3. A man, aged 74, who died on August 8, 2021 at the General Hospital of Nicosia.
4. A woman, aged 72, who ended up on August 11, 2021 in the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia.
5. A man, aged 74, who ended up on August 12, 2021 in the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia.
6. A man, aged 78, who ended up on August 13, 2021 in the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia.
7. A man, aged 65, who ended up on August 19, 2021 in the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia.
8. A man, aged 76, who ended up on August 20, 2021 in the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia.
9. Woman, aged 76, who died on August 23, 2021 at the General Hospital of Nicosia.

Therefore, from today's daily announcement, new deaths with an underlying cause of death, COVID-19, will be added to the total number of 544. Of these, 348 (64%) are men and 196 (36%) are women, while the average age of the deceased is 76.3 years.

The Ministry of Health updates its databases at regular intervals, with the aim of correct and complete recording of epidemiological surveillance data. For the sake of transparency, the Ministry of Health will inform about any new data it records.
