Regarding the case of the seizure of a large quantity of duty-free tobacco products, on January 17, in Limassol, the Customs Department reports that the court rejected the suspect's request for pre-trial detention for a period of eight days.
The Customs Department reports that the investigation of the case continues for the large quantity of tobacco products, with a total customs tax burden of €139,633.72.
«The suspect was brought before the court today of the District Court of Limassol, which rejected the request for pre-trial detention filed by the Customs Department, it is added.
It is recalled that officers of the Customs Department, located in a building in the area of Karnaios, three locked, prefabricated and transportable warehouses, as well as a refrigerator, inside which large quantities of tobacco products were stored, which are estimated to come from the occupied.
The total quantities of tobacco found products, which were seized in accordance with the provisions of the Customs Legislation, amount to 390,640 cigarettes, 285,750 grams of tobacco and 113,600 heated cigarettes.
