No extra charge 'Photovoltaic for All', says Consumer Protection Agency

    Participation inThe new “Photovoltaics for All” Subsidy Plan does not provide for an additional burden on consumersand, therefore, any demand on the part of traders for this purpose is unjustified and outside the spirit of the plan, states in today's announcement the Consumer Protection Agency.

    As noted, the Agency found that certain merchants who participate in the Scheme in questionannounced by the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry impose an additional charge on consumers, underlining that “participation in the said Sponsorship Scheme does not provide for an additional charge on consumers and, therefore, any demand from part of the marketers for this purpose is unjustified and outside the spirit of the “Photovoltaics for All” project”.

    It is added that consumers who have received or are expected to receive pre-approval to participate in the “Photovoltaic for All” program are asked to check whether participating merchants impose additional charges, while during the required market research they should take into account that the price should not is the only criterion, since particular importance should be given to the performance of the photovoltaic system and its other technical specifications. In the same context, it is noted that the Scheme catalogs include a large number of participating traders, offering many alternative options to consumers.

    Consumers are asked, finally, to take into account that there is a large price fluctuation in the market, but at the same time large availability of systems that range within the amount covered by the aid.

    It is reminded that the total amount of the investment, covered by the “Photovoltaics for All” Scheme, amounts to €5,000 and that any expenditure over the amount of this should be paid by the applicant directly to the participating merchant.
