One of the most impressive performances ever made in Europe was that of Omonia, which “dissolved” Zira with 6-0 and effectively “locked” its qualification to the Conference League. The “greens” also made a historic record as they recorded the biggest European victory in their history.
Part 1
Dabrauskas' team showed its intentions from the first minutes, controlling the pace of the game and with enough patience circulating the ball.
In the 9th minute the “greens” missed their first big chance with Simic crosses from the right and Stepinski heads the ball just wide.
Four minutes later, specifically in the 13th minute, Omonia managed to open the scoring of the match. Hamas with an impressive free kick gave his team the lead with the ball hitting the crossbar and into the ground. After VAR intervention the goal counted as the ball crossed the line.
The VAR had a lot of work to do in the first half as in the 30th minute they called the referee to check a foul in the Zira area. The goalkeeper of the guests pulled Erakovic with the referee showing the “white bullet”. The execution was undertaken by Semedo, who was beaten by the goalkeeper of Zira, but again with a violation by the VAR, the referee showed a replay. However, Semedo hit the target this time, making it 2-0 for his team.
Zira threatened for the first time in the game in the 37th minute with a free-kick by Uzig, but Fabiano made an impressive save.
The “greens” did not stop at the two goals as they scored a third in stoppage time after Evandro's turn and Stepinski's shot.
So Omonia went to the dressing room for the end of the first half before with 3-0 against Zira.
Second Part
In the second half, Omonia entered the first minutes of the second half waiting for Zira to attack. Nevertheless, the correct positioning of its defenders cut off any possible threat.
In the 54th minute, the “greens” scored 4-0 with Stepinski again receiving Simic's pass and with a strong shot to scores his second personal goal.
Omonia did what they wanted on the field and in the 59th minute it was Evandro's turn to write their name among the scorers. With a nice shot from the height of the area, he defeated Silva, scoring 5-0.
The “greens” were surprisingly effective as they scored goals at every opportunity they were given. In the 70th minute, Semedo scored his second personal goal with a nice shot into the area after a pass from Agili to make it 6-0.
The next few minutes were procedural with Drabauskas making changes to rest. several of his football players.
So the “magical” night of Omonia ended with an impressive 6-0, achieving the biggest European victory in its history and qualifying for the Conference League.
