The Parliamentary Health Committee requested information from the Health Insurance Organization about the procedures for the inclusion of innovative preparations in the GESS. At the same time, in his reply letter to the chairman and the other members of the Committee, the Deputy General Manager of OAU, Athos Tsinontidis, gives the necessary explanations regarding the lack or non-availability of medicines in GESS. It was preceded by two letters from the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Health, Efthymios Diplaros, at the end of March and April, respectively, in which reference was made to a total of 63 preparations. These are drugs that are either not included in the GESS or are provided through the system, but are in short supply for long periods of time. According to Mr. Tsinontidis, out of the 63 preparations, 15 relate to food supplements which are not reimbursed by the health systems, noting, however, that the OAU covers treatments for specialized categories of patients. As for the remaining 48, the 24 are reimbursed either as such or respectively with the same active substance. At the same time, in the reply letter, there is talk of seven other preparations, which will be available within the GESS in the next period.
