Greater increase for January-October period.
The Consumer Price Index in October 2023 increased by 0.30 points to 117.97 points compared to 117.67 points in September 2023. Inflation in October 2023 increased at a rate of 3. 5%. For the period January – October 2023, the CPI increased by 3.9% compared to the corresponding period last year.
Analysis of Percentage Changes
Compared to October 2022, the largest changes were observed in the categories Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (5.5%) and Restaurants and Hotels (4.9%). Compared to September 2023, the biggest change was observed in the Clothing and Footwear category (3.4%). For the period January – October 2023, compared to the corresponding period last year, the largest changes were presented in the categories Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (8.7%), Restaurants and Hotels (6.0%) and Housing, Water Supply, Electricity and LPG (5.6%).
Clothing and footwear prices increased by 3.4%
The Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages category had the greatest positive effect on the change in the Consumer Price Index of October 2023 compared to October 2022 (1.20). The categories Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (-0.32) and Housing, Water Supply, Electricity and LPG (0.29) had the greatest impact on the CPI change compared to the previous month.
The the biggest impact on the October 2023 CPI change compared to the October 2022 index was Food Services (0.45). Finally, Electricity (0.21), Clothing (0.17) and Fresh Vegetables (-0.17) had the greatest impact on the change in the CPI of October 2023 compared to the corresponding index of the previous month.
