On the occasion of the recent public debate on foreign investment in Cyprus, the Federation of Employers and Industrialists (OEB) wants to reiterate its strong concern and call for the avoidance of this tactic, which is affecting a substantial vehicle out of the crisis, foreign investment.
The serious foreign investments made in our country, for which a specific name is mentioned such as Ayia Napa Marina, Casino Resort, Wargaming, etc., are proven to have a multiplier character, translate into thousands of jobs and improve the living standards of our fellow citizens. . The most notable of these came at a time when Cyprus was trying to recover from the 2013 financial crisis and the benefits are diffused in a wide range of activities and services.
Foreign investors, both current and future, should not be targeted as their contribution to the development of the Cypriot economy is catalytic.
OEB once again calls on those involved in the public debate to realize the magnitude of the stake, protecting the economy from risks and unpleasant developments that will affect a wide range of companies and employees.
