The Federation of Employers & Industrialists (OEB), informs its members that stakeholders can submit proposals under the Call for Proposals of the Program “European Initiatives – Local Development (PRIMA)”, which is part of the REST 2016 Programs ” -2020 »for Research, Technological Development and Innovation.
The PRIMA Program aims to develop research and innovation potential as well as innovative and sustainable solutions for water supply and management systems, agricultural production systems, and agri-food chains, in order to make them more environmentally and socially efficient by contributing to water scarcity, food safety and adequacy, nutrition, health, prosperity and migration flows.
In the framework of the PRIMA Program, Invitations have been announced for Section 1 and Section 2 of the annual Work Program for 2022, with a total budget of € 70 million. Section 1 deals with Programs funded by European Union funds while Section 2 deals with Programs funded by national resources of PRIMA member countries.
Section 1
Section 1 covers Programs funded by the European Union through the PRIMA organization, amounting to € 33 million based on the rules of the Horizon 2020 program and covers 4 thematic areas, in the 3 thematic priorities of PRIMA and in combination with them.
1 Thematic Area 1 – Water management:
Topic 1.1.1-2022 (IA) Sustainable and integrated management of natural and artificial water storages and distribution infrastructures |
2 Thematic Area 2 – Farming systems:
Topic 1.2.1-2022 (RIA) Developing integrated soil data for the Mediterranean region: a gateway for sustainable soil management |
3 Thematic Area 3 – Agrofood chain:
Topic 1.3.1-2022 (IA) Alternative protein sources for the Mediterranean food value chain. From production, extraction, processing and marketing, to societal acceptance. |
4 Nexus theme
Topic 1.4.1-2022 (IA) Predicting and testing options of socio-economic adaptation to declining Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem (WEFE) resources in the Mediterranean region Topic 1.4.2-2022 (CSA) Development of a Mediterranean Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem (WEFE) Community of Practice. |
For the complete framework and procedure, those interested can refer to the specific invitation of Section 1, which interests them, on the PRIMA website. The Final Deadline for the International Proposal for the first stage of Section 1 proposals is March 15 , 2022, at 17:00 and for the second stage is September 6 , 2022 at 17:00 .
Section 2
Section 2 of the call focuses on the following challenges, with the aim of supporting projects that fall into the following sections:
1 Thematic Area 1 – Water management:
Topic 2.1.1-2022 (RIA) Prevent and reduce land and water salinization and pollution due to agri-food activities. |
2 Thematic Area 2 – Farming systems:
Topic 2.2.1-2022 (RIA) Improving the sustainability of agro-pastoralism in the Mediterranean region under the context of climate change. |
3 Thematic Area 3 – Agrofood chain:
Topic 2.3.1-2022 (RIA) Enabling the transition to healthy and sustainable dietary behavior |
It is noted that the total budget of the national call amounts to 400,000 euros while the maximum funding amounts to 200,000 euros per project. The duration of the projects should be between 36-48 months.
