OKYpY complaints about threats from doctors that “they still haven't seen anything” – Given the escalation, if a solution is not found, the doctors respond – The 48-hour strike is in effect – “The doctors' salaries after the operation “The costs of the OKYPY have doubled or tripled,” says Charilaou. If a mutual solution is not found, we are forced to escalate measures, said PASYKI President Sotiris Koumas.

Speaking from the Limassol General Hospital about the 48-hour strike of public doctors, which began at 7:30 today, he was asked to comment on state television on the statement by OKYpY Press Spokesperson Charalambos Charilaou that the Organization had received threats from doctors, that they still “have not seen anything”, and that longer strikes would follow.

    • Strict message from PtD on strikes: The state will not succumb to pressure

< p>Mr. Koumas replied that it is given when dynamic measures begin or a mutually acceptable solution will be found or they are forced to escalate. When asked by journalists what they meant by escalating measures, Mr. Koumas was content to say that this would be decided collectively, while when asked if this could translate into an indefinite strike, he answered in the affirmative.

However, he reiterated that there is room to find a mutual solution and break the deadlock.

Regarding what was heard a few days ago about an agreement, he said that they had agreed with the proposal of the Chairman of the Health Committee, Efthimios Diplaros. “We discussed from 7 to 10 at night. We accepted the amount and the framework for discussion,” he said, confirming that the amount proposed was 7.3 million euros.

Then, however, as he added, they got lost in translation and the whole thing went down the drain.

Charilaou: Doctors' earnings after the operation of OKYPY have doubled or tripled

Beyond the threats, earlier OKYPY Press Spokesperson, Charalambos Charilaou, stated on the Morning Schedule that doctors' earnings, after the operation of the Organization, have doubled or tripled.

The OKYPY Press Spokesperson expressed strong concern for patient care during the strike, especially in provinces where there are no contracted TAEPs with the OAY.

Noting that the goal is not to endanger patients, Mr. Charilaou also stressed that it is unacceptable to postpone, for example, chemotherapy treatments or not to grant discharges.

    Strong message from the President

President Christodoulides stated last night thatthe state will not succumb to pressures that do not focus on the well-intentioned interests of society as a whole or that act as a deterrent to major reforms.

Commenting on the strikes in various sectors, he called on everyone to rise to the occasion and in a spirit of prudence and consensus “and without any outside interventions, which may serve other purposes” so that we do not lead to a crisis, disregarding the consequences for the economy, but also for the citizens.
