The… distribution on August 18th
It has now been six months that Sofronis Augustis has been sitting on the “green” bench. During this time, the climate in Omonia changed drastically, with the footballers now believing in themselves and competing with confidence in every match. The Cypriot coach has shown his confidence in the team he has this year and is sharing time with everyone, with the footballers most of the time leaving him white-faced.
The 46-year-old coach knows that the season will be big and demanding, so he wants them all ready for the team to cope. This is also shown by the minutes he played in these first six games of the season, in European and domestic competitions.
In particular, he gave playing time to 18 players, with four of them playing as starters in all the “cloverleaf” games.
Fabiano is the only one with the absolute, since he counts 540 minutes. Next is Senou Koulibaly with 6 appearances and 517 minutes, a defender who was acquired to correct the defensive problems that the “greens” had last year.
Another new signing, Willy Semedo has made six appearances and over 500 minutes (509), with the Cape Verdean winger pacing Omonia's forward line. Although he is yet to score, he is penetrating and his explosiveness is troubling opposition defenders, with Sofroni Augustis trusting him.
The fourth player with 6 starts so far is Adam Matthews , with the Welsh full-back getting 486 playing minutes. A faithful “soldier” of the Cypriot coach who stands out for his consistent performance in every game.
Then with the most minutes we have Adam Lang with 450 (5 appearances as a starter) and Roman Bezos with 434 and 6 appearances (1 as a substitute).
