The Cameroonian goes… in the deep end
In Saturday's match against AEL, Saidu Alium made his official debut with Omonia. The Cameroonian has been at “Ilias Pullos” for a long time, he trained and was tested by the capital team before the final decision was made on his acquisition.
The Cameroonian showed that he needs time to get into the… climate of the Cypriot league for good. But he also showed good elements, for which he was chosen by the greens.
As mentioned by the team's Sporting Director Jesper Jansson, Alium was acquired by a collective decision between the programming team and Sofronis Augustis. He also said that any move made in the summer was made after consultation with the coach.
Speaking about his case, in his interview yesterday on the show “Total Green” he also referred to the readiness of the footballer. This is a footballer who is at 100%, having come from the Swedish league which is ongoing and is ready to play whenever needed. However, he definitely needs time to adapt to the conditions of Cyprus.
He also noted that the talent of the footballer is indisputable and his way of playing fits the plan of Sofronis Augustis.
It is certain that game by game the 20-year-old will “rise” more, after all, Omonoia has… needs on the offensive ends. In the game against Aris for the 5th matchday, Simic is suspended, therefore Alium's participation, at least as a substitute, is a given.
