The… risk of this move
As of yesterday, Akinkunmi Amo is officially a football player of Omonia, with the “greens” announcing the acquisition of the Nigerian. The 21-year-old followed the team in the main stage of preparation in Poland, while he has been participating in the training sessions at “Ilias Pullos” for a long time, with the official confirmation of his acquisition coming shortly before the end of the transfer period.
One can say that the “clover”… is taking a risk with this particular move, since the footballer has not played for about a year. It is essentially an investment move, since he is not able to throw himself on the field immediately, and he still needs time to get back to 100%.
His quality is undeniable, since Copenhagen had spent 4 million. euros to buy him from Hammarby, in January 2022. He had been brought to the Swedish team by the Sporting Director of the “greens”, Jesper Jansson, who is giving him a second chance in Omonia.
In terms of Denmark, it seems that Copenhagen are happy to get rid of the footballer, who had a contract until 2026 and could not offer.
At Omonia they believe that the young winger can find his old good self and this is both Jansson's and Augustis's bet.
On the one hand the Swede wants to be justified for his selection and on the other hand the Cypriot technician is called upon to make the most of his talent, when of course deemed ready to enter the field.
