On the streets from tomorrow, the Police for pan-Cypriot traffic controls

The Police announces pan-Cypriot traffic controls for the use of seat belts by drivers and passengers of cars and trucks, as well as for the use of child and lifting seats.

The traffic tests, which start tomorrow Monday 08 March and will last until Sunday 14 March 2021, aim at raising public awareness, through policing, about the use of the seat belt and the child / lift seats, as well as the information the public about the dangers of not using restraint systems. The ultimate goal is to reduce serious and fatal injuries in road accidents.

The seat belt remains the most effective safety feature in motor vehicles. According to the analysis of the available statistics of the three years 2017 – 2019, 55.56% of the dead drivers and passengers of vehicles did not wear a seat belt.

The Police remain committed to the service of society in order to ensure the safety of the public on the road network to prevent deadly and serious road collisions.
