The attitude of trade unions is illegal and irregular, says PASYXE in a statement
The strike is taking place at the Thanos Hotels group.
Hotel employees, who work in hotel units in Paphos, have been on strike since dawn, as a result of differences in terms of employment. In its announcement, PASYXE speaks of an unjustified decision since, as it states, there is an ongoing mediation process and speaks of incalculable damages to the tourism industry. He calls on the Minister of Labor and Social Insurance to take the necessary initiatives for the immediate lifting of the strikes. For its part, the OEB calls on the unions “to immediately lift the strike measures which expose the tourism industry of our country and undermine healthy labor relations”. At the same time, the KEBE calls on the trade unions “to respect the Industrial Relations Code that they have signed and to immediately lift the announced strike measures so that the hotels can operate smoothly” >
The Pancypriot Association of Hoteliers (PASYXE) unequivocally condemns the unannounced, irregular and extortionate strike at the Thanos Hotels Hotel Group, which has been carried out since dawn today, Thursday, October 5, 2023, by the PEO and SEK workers' unions.

This strike is, in addition to being unilateral and unjustified, clearly outside of the established procedures of the Industrial Relations Code, as there is an ongoing mediation process.
It is also noted that a scheduled meeting before the Labor Relations Department of the Ministry is pending. Work & of Social Insurance next Wednesday 11/10/2023.
With these actions it is clear that the damage done to labor relations is enormous, but the damages that the entire tourism industry will suffer are also incalculable.< /p>
The indifference and irresponsibility shown by the Trade Unions regarding these huge impacts on the engine of the Cypriot economy, by not respecting the Industrial Relations Code, is unprecedented.
The illegal and irregular attitude of the Trade Unions has been confirmed in writing from the competent Ministry of Labor which has called since the morning, the trade unions to respect the Industrial Relations Code and to allow the dialogue to proceed.
PASYXE once again calls on the trade unions to immediately lift the extortionate strike measures which expose them as well as the local tourism industry while at the same time undermining healthy labor relations.
At the same time, PASYXE calls on the Minister of Labor and of Social Insurance without further delay to take the necessary initiatives for the immediate lifting of the strikes.
