The Omonia fans heard the President of the team, Stavros Papastavrou in an interview where he revealed various information about the privately owned stadium.

He revealed the plan and talked about his feelings, the process and what's next steps. He also referred to the advantages of the chosen area, its area and referred to the project in general.

Which brought excitement to the ranks of the Greens, as everyone was waiting for details on the implementation of this monumental project.

Highlights:

The his feelings: “From the first day I came to Omonia, people were asking for a private stadium. It was always in our mind to build a stadium for Omonia. We are all in Omonia very happy to start this project and I hope that soon we will finish it and have our own stadium”.

Why Omonia wants its own stadium: “Besides love and what people want, there are several, besides financial benefits, the biggest thing that gives a team the stadium is more momentum. Teams when they have their own stadiums raise their level and that's what we want to do for Omonia”. strong> “The reason I know it's going to happen is because I recognize, I know my abilities and what I can do and I want to do it. Let the world believe that it will be done”.

For the process of purchasing the plots of land: “Many of us happened to buy 1-2-3 properties, plots, we know how much patience is needed. When we're talking about 22 pieces from 15 sellers – there are also those we couldn't convince – you understand how much work was done. Two years of working on this thing, no hype, no advertising, it took us until August to close the 22 pieces. There were many difficulties that we cannot mention them all, each piece had its peculiarities”.

For the area:“We looked at several areas that met certain criteria. We ended up with these plots in Tseriou area which we feel is the most suitable place for Omonia friends because it will be easy for them to come from Nicosia and other cities as well. It is one kilometer from the highway. The new ring road has an exit or entrance you can say that ends right in the blocks. It has everything we need to do what we want.”

About the size of the area: “We bought around 150,000 square meters, it's the 22 lots we said. Another 50,000 is state land, we are continuing the processes to finish this too and get these 50,000 square kilometers too. We can do the projects we want without them, but this way it will be more correct and organized, it will help the people of Omonia more”.

About the capacity: “When we got we have analyzed this decision since the day I arrived, how many tickets are sold in each game and season tickets. We ended up with this number, close to 16 thousand. We want the people to come and give us the momentum”.

When will the bulldozers come in:“We started meetings from December 23 with people from the government and they are continuing because many issues need to be clarified. The next step is to make the mock-up, then the architectural plans for the applications, then the planning permits and bids, and finally the construction. I am not an expert and those who have to will run them. We are working on the model and we hope to have it soon, before the end of the year”.

Was buying the land the hardest part? “No. Each vendor had their own quirks and when you're dealing with so many vendors and pieces, it was difficult but I think it was just a start, there's still a lot of work to be done to get into our own stadium. We will certainly have our problems, we will make our mistakes but we are ready for this challenge”. >”The public management system is because first we want the world to know what we are doing, where the project is, what the next steps are, what actions are being taken. We want when we enter these processes if it is our fault, if we are late, who is late, the world will see that. Let's all try together to finish this project as soon as possible”.

When will Omonia play the first game in the new stadium:“We hope to start the 2028/29 season at the new stadium. This is the goal we set. Of course if we succeed even earlier it will be welcome but we want August 2028 to be the first game”.

On the name of the stadium: “We have not made this decision yet . But for the project we will probably go to the world to give us ideas. For the stadium, we will ask companies if they want to take the naming rights”.

For the association: “The association is the one that is legally entitled to take the state land and the state sponsorships. So we will work with the union and with Marios Argiridis to help us in these parts”.

About the training center: “Yes, the training center will be there as well. In order for the first team to be there and to leave “Ilias Pullos” in the academies, it will become the new home of the academies”.

For the total cost of the investment: ” It is still too early to calculate the exact cost because no architectural plans have been released, but we estimate around 60 to 70 million euros”.
