The Paphos Police carried out a coordinated operation to prevent traffic collisions in the context of which, in a 24-hour period, 63 complaints were made, most of them concerning driving at excessive speed.
< p> According to the press representative of ADE Paphos and head of TAE Paphos, Michalis Nikolaou, of the 63 traffic complaints made in a 24-hour period, 22 concern driving at excessive speed. Besides, one person was driving his vehicle under the influence of alcohol, one under the influence of drugs, while the rest of the complaints concern minor traffic violations.
According to Mr. Nikolaou, on January 19, at 3 p.m. :35 members of group Z were conducting traffic checks in Geroskipou and stopped a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old in whose possession a quantity of cannabis weighing approximately 14 grams was detected. Subsequently, he was accused in writing by YKAN and released. He tested positive for a drug test. An additional sample was taken to be sent for scientific tests to the State General Chemistry.
