After the transfer of the historic Carob Mills of Paphos to the municipal authority by the state and the cleaning of the buildings by the Municipality of Paphos, the third and most important step, their utilization, has finally been locked and concerns the academic sector. The municipal authority has already completed the contacts and processes with an academic institution for its transfer to Paphos and its operation in the area on Apostolos Pavlou Avenue and everything shows that this cooperation concerns the American University of Beirut.
The procedures started at the last year at a very fast pace, after the commitment of President Anastasiadis that the Government will provide the historic area for Paphos in order to benefit from the appropriate use by the municipal authority. Immediately, following this positive development, the Municipality of Paphos announced a call for interest for the removal of metal and other structures from the building complex of Haroupomyla, located on Apostolou Pavlou Avenue, a process which was also implemented quickly.
After the building preparation, the decisive step was recently taken regarding the final utilization and promotion of the space, with the announcement of interest by the municipal authority for the academic utilization of the Carob Mills. The offer was submitted according to the schedules set by the specific university which all show that from 2022 it will be another academic center in the city, after the University of Naples, the School of Tourism Professions of TEPAK, Alexander College, CDA College and Paphos Innovation Institute.
