Meeting with Deputy Tourism will be requested by the president of the Association of Paphos Leisure Center Owners
A meeting with the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, will be requested by the president of the Association of Paphos Leisure Center Owners, Angelos Onisiforou, to discuss the problems facing his sector and the reduced visitor numbers of the leisure centers that was observed in in the months of June and July.
In an announcement by SIKAP, Mr. Onisiforou states that the Deputy Minister of Tourism may estimate that the tourist traffic in Cyprus this year is at high levels in comparison compared to last year and is generally on the rise, however, he adds, according to the messages they receive, the traffic in the leisure centers is not as expected.
He adds that during the months of June and July, the turnover of Pafos leisure centers presented serious problems.
The announcement continues by stating that in August the traffic is good but the problem created by the previous months is deeply troubling the industry to a large extent.
He also mentions that SIKAP has informed the Deputy Ministry of Tourism of their concerns and concerns and they are expected to request a meeting to examine the issue with the Deputy Minister of Tourism.
He also claims that the upswing in tourism in Cyprus is said to only concern hotels and not leisure centers, with all the negative implications for its industry.
