The situation with the fire that broke out in the early afternoon despite the community of Mili in Pafos province is under control the press representative of Fire Service Andreas Kettis.

“The risk of rekindling exists mainly in the morning and midday hours of tomorrow. Early in the morning they will support the ground forces and aerial means for drops where and where needed,” he said.

Around 9pm, Mr. Kettis , had reported that “the final limitation of active fronts is being done”.

He had pointed out that they did not have to proceed with the evacuation of the two communities that were threatened by the fire and that only two houses on the borders of the Drymos community were evacuated by the Civil Defense.

However, as he said, the communities of Drymos and Simos to be on alert for possible evacuations.

In a previous update, Mr. Kettis stated that the Civil Defense in collaboration with the Police is proceeding with the evacuation of the Drymos community due to an uncontrolled active front in an inaccessible area near the community. It referred to efforts by ground fire forces and land thrusters to intercept the active front heading towards the community of Drymos.

He also noted that the rest of the fire brigades are engaged in securing the perimeter of the fire that broke out early in the afternoon despite the community of Miliou in the district of Paphos.

The spokesperson of the Fire Department said that a control center was installed in the area and that four aerial vehicles will continue to operate until last light (3 firefighting aircraft and a National Guard helicopter).

Earlier, Mr. Kettis said that five fire engines from the city and province of Paphos are operating at the scene of the fire. The firefighting forces were reinforced with two firefighting vehicles from the Forestry Department, while five firefighting aircraft are involved in the extinguishing operation.

According to him, the fire is developing slowly, while strong winds are blowing in the area.

< p>“There is impassability of the lands. They work to clear paths for the ground forces and contain the fire and earth movers. Ground forces are being reinforced with fire engines from Larnaca, Limassol and EMAK. They also continue to operate so far a total of five aerial means,” he adds.
