Regarding June, Mr. Loizidis mentioned that there are reservations but noted that in general this month “is not a month with great demand for tourism”

It is possible that some hotel units were overbooked during the three days of the Flood in Pafos province, however the situation “cannot be saved”, says the President of the Association of Pafos Hoteliers Euripides Loizidis.

In his statements to KYPE, Mr. Loizidis said that there is a lot of availability in some hotel units and that May recorded a very good start, “however, it did not close satisfactorily”. He noted that May occupancy rates in Paphos ranged from 70% to 75%.

He referred to high operating costs, saying that many hotels “are loaded with huge debts”.

“Yes, the revenues have reached last year's, but the expenses are many times more plus the interest on the repayment of the loans which have doubled”, said Mr. Loizidis.

He mentioned that 2023 may look better, but hoteliers have to face very big challenges of the big expenses that have accumulated in recent years.

Regarding June, Mr. Loizidis mentioned that there are reservations but noted that in general this month “is not a month with great demand for tourism”.

The biggest bookings come from the UK market but there are also bookings from Poland and Israel.
