Without a budget semi-state while the twelfth year ends – The risk of semi-state employees remaining unpaid, their operation at risk

The risk of semi-state employees remaining unpaid, but also of these organizations not being able to operate after at the end of February, pointed out both the President of the Parliament Annita Dimitriou and the Member of Parliament of AKEL Aristos Damianou.

After the end of the legislative work of the Parliament, Mr. Damianou wondered what the Government intends to do, which says that semi-governmental organizations are arms of government policy. He was asked if he wants to close the RIK, the KOA or other parastatals whose budget for 2024 has not yet been submitted to the Parliament. p>

He said that he is constitutionally unable to understand how they can now consider budgets that will possibly be submitted on February 29, which is the last day even for the tithes given for the first two months of the year, so that the specific Organizations can operate.

“So I think that the executive branch should see what they do with their house but they are irreparably exposed, as are the workers in these organizations and those who have contracts with these organizations”, he said.

The Speaker of the House Annita Dimitriou said that she completely agrees and pointed out that this is not the responsibility of the House of Representatives. He wished that they would not experience moments this year where people remain unpaid or a semi-governmental organization cannot function.

“It is really unacceptable that February is almost over and we are still waiting for budgets to be submitted. The executive power is completely unacceptable and completely exposed”, he noted.
