The Pancypriot Union of Nurses (PASYNO) announces its intention to continue fighting in 2023 for adequate staffing of the hospitals, for better working conditions for the staff and satisfaction of the risk request.

“We will continue the battles for the newly-entered nurses at OKYpY and for better working conditions for the nurses at the Athalassa Hospital, a hospital that operates in deplorable working conditions and an extremely dangerous environment,” she says in her statement, adding that she will continue to fight. with the administrations of the hospitals and especially with the OKYpY for the correct staffing according to the appropriate nurse-patient ratios.

Taking stock of 2022, he notes that it was a difficult year for health professionals but also for the whole of humanity. “Although we have gone through the difficult times with the COVID-19 virus, hospitals and the health system face major challenges such as understaffing of departments, opening of new Units without sufficient staff, nurses of two shifts. We are fighting for better nursing staffing and for continuous staffing of the clinics/day care units so that our staff are not overworked physically and mentally”, he notes.

Finally, PASYNO  expresses the wish that “the new year will bring better working conditions, less stressful hours, respect for the profession of the nurse and safeguarding the unhealthy profession”.
