The meeting between them is also expected to raise issues such as:

– The upgrading of infrastructure with urban planning incentives and through the utilization of European programs in order to lead businesses towards the digital transition and the green transition.

– To continue efforts to develop thematic tourism. “Our foreground is the sun and the sea but certainly thematic tourism adorns our entire tourism product and gives some alternative options to tourists and can help winter tourism and our goal to make Cyprus a year-round tourist destination”, he says Mr. Roussounidis.

For his part, PASYXE wishes the new Deputy Minister a good term, assuring him that he will be by his side. At the same time, he expressed the hope that the new Deputy Minister, Kostas Koumis, will be as energetic as his predecessor, and will take into account the positions of PASYXE, which plays an important role in tourism, as he mentioned.

In relation to estimates for the current year, F. Roussounidis expressed moderate optimism, stating that there are conditions for a good year, however at the same time, as he mentioned, there are several problems in the industry, such as understaffing in hotel units.

Referring to the first two months of the year, he said that both January and February did very well in terms of passenger traffic, hotel occupancy to be rather low, while most hotels remain closed. We expect to see the opening of most units around the end of March, beginning of April.
