After Monday's meeting, the president of the CCCI, Christodoulos Agastiniotis, admitted that the employers are “worried about the determination of the minimum wage”, but said that the minister did not announce the amount of the salary to the board. of the CCCI, and wished that what was said at the meeting would be listened to, in order for the continuation of the dialogue to be smooth. Answering, however, when asked whether the minimum wage that will be set can be below € 900, Mr. Agastiniotis stated that “no minimum wage will be set, below what is in force today”, as well as that he has not A ceiling has been set.
Speaking yesterday on state radio, the secretary general of the Chamber Marios Tsiakkis also stated that the minister stated on Monday that the national minimum wage will not be lower than the one applied today for specific professions, with the same characterizing this fact as logical. He added, however, that this does not mean that the national minimum wage will be higher, stressing the need for the amount to be set so as not to create problems and overturn business planning, because as he explained in the end it will be paid by employees and Businesses. He specifically stated that if a high minimum wage is introduced, the companies will be obliged to pay it according to the legislation and it is not excluded that they will then make their calculations and make staff reductions, as a result of which some will lose their jobs.
