Recent developments may positively affect the development program of the Cyprus deposits and some talks have already taken place with the Egyptian Minister of Oil, while in April she will meet with her Israeli counterpart, said the Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry , Natasa Pileidou.
Asked to comment on the US Secretary of State's position on the importance of the Eastern Mediterranean region in the energy and new role of Cyprus and whether it will change the plans to accelerate the exploitation of the resources being discovered, Ms. Pileidou said that the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum has already with the EU and neighboring countries, such as Israel, because “it is very important to identify the necessary synergies for the Eastern Mediterranean to play this role, one of the sources of energy EU, but also internationally “.

Asked if she believes that the geostrategic value of East Med should be highlighted now, Ms. Peleidou said that geopolitically EastMed has great value, there are other projects under study that have value for the promotion of the Eastern Mediterranean as a regional – at least & nbsp; – a gas supply center but also from RES through an interface, such as EuroAsia which is “equally important and has secured funding”.
