Digital campaigns of the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Tourism reach more than one billion smart phones annually, said Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios, speaking at the conference of the Association of Travel Agents ACCTA «Digi.travel – The Cyprus International Digital Tourism Conference & Expo 2023».

Mr. Perdios noted that the State Department has stopped spending money on television, radio or magazine ads because of its limited budget compared to competitive markets such as Turkey, Italy and Spain.

< p>"We have to be very targeted and get as much value for our money as possible. So the vast majority of marketing we do is now digital. It gives us the opportunity to be very flexible, to reach customers where they want to be reached, and through our campaigns we reach more than a billion smartphones annually. This is a huge number,'' he said.

He added that searches for Cyprus today compared to 2019 are 30% higher and this is due to targeted digital marketing.

"For a country like us that has really changed its tourism identity, there is no better tool than the internet to spread this message", he said.

He also mentioned that the country has moved forward, with digital marketing help since the "age of sun and sea" in the era of Cyprus as an island rich in history and culture, full of authentic experiences that are available all year round, accessible to all, within a very short distance from each other.

He also emphasized the importance of good digital content saying that the Under-Ministry used mainly local companies to create this content, stressing that there are many good companies in Cyprus in this field.

Referring to examples of the Under-Ministry's digital campaigns , Perdios said he has launched the "Heartland of legends" route, a route of three thousand kilometers of authentic experiences that passes exclusively through the mountains, rural and remote areas of Cyprus.

"In this on the platform you can find all these authentic experiences, giving small businesses the opportunity to easily market themselves to the public. We helped them digitize what they offer and make it available to the public,'' said Mr. Perdios.

He also mentioned that the Deputy Ministry has created several plans to help the digital transition of businesses, financially supporting businesses in tourism to become digital.
