Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios described the impression that travel is not allowed without the European digital certificate as wrong, stressing that the example of Cyprus, which from March 1 facilitates travel to and from the EU, denies it.
The Deputy Minister of Tourism, speaking at the 66th Session of the European Commission of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which was held in Athens, on June 2-4, urged that the members of the Organization should be clear in their public positions on this issue.
The main topic of the Summit was the situation prevailing in the tourism sector in different countries, as well as the ways of dealing with the challenges of the pandemic.
During his speech, Mr. Perdios highlighted parameters that could contribute to the recovery of the tourism sector both in Cyprus and in other destinations.
In addition, the Undersecretary welcomed the launch of the UNWTO program “Best Tourist Villages”, which, as he said, is fully in line with the strategic plans of Cyprus and especially with the tourist certification model “Colorful Villages of Cyprus”. which will be inaugurated in the coming days.
