The Pancypriot Medical Association (PIS) states in its statement that it supports the perfectly justified request on behalf of the Pancypriot Syndicate of Government Doctors (PASYKI), to clarify in writing the status of their insurance coverage.< /b>
“It is a matter of critical importance and under no circumstances should any doctor be left exposed and uninsured whether they are permanent, part-time or open-ended or contracted. We recognize the complexity of the issue, but this is not an excuse for any organization and any employer”, he says.
He welcomes the intervention of the Minister of Health, “which should not be limited to simply preventing a work stoppage but must be judged on the merits, which will clarify the insurance framework of the affected colleagues and ensure their coverage, within the agreed schedules”.
He also expresses regret “that we have been informed that despite the successive letters sent by PASYKI to OKYpY, this has not been accomplished” and mentions that “doctors are already exposed daily through their daily clinical work, while OKypY behaves is still in the process of announcing a tender for the insurance coverage of colleagues”.
