POED will hold a protest event on Wednesday afternoon at the entrance of the Presidential Palace.
Announcement from POED states that the protest event concerns the planning of the implementation of the extension of Compulsory Pre-Primary Education.
“It is a permanent position of POED that the downward extension of the admission age to Pre-Primary Education, from the age of four The strong disagreement of the Organization concerns the incomplete ones and incorrect plans submitted by the Government to the Parliament, for the implementation of the above policy”.
Therefore, the POED addresses appeal to the President of the Republic as he intervenes, for the review of the above plans, so as to ensure the correct implementation of the extension of Compulsory Pre-Primary Education from the age of four, through the structures of the Public School.
At the same time, he appeals to the Parliamentary Parties and the Members of Parliament as they proceed to amend the proposed legislation, thereby ensuring the right of access of every child of mandatory pre-primary age to the Public Kindergarten in their neighborhood.
The event will include a gathering of teachers, placements on behalf of of three Educational Organizations and the Organized Parents of Pre-Primary Education and delivery of a resolution to the President of the Republic.
