According to information from APE-MPE, Pope Francis will be in Mytilene as part of a tour that includes Greece, most likely at the end of November and the beginning of December 2021. The prospect of the Pope's visit to Greece was broadcast on the 1st of last September the APE-MPE.
According to the same information, preparing details of this visit, on Thursday 14/10, cardinals from the Vatican will visit, accompanied by political officials of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum, the camp of the temporary KYT in Mavrovouni (Kara Tepe) of Mytilene. A position that is included in the program of the Pope's visit to Mytilene, and this is because, as it became known, the Pope wants to intervene in issues of the humanitarian-refugee crisis with his visit. As of this morning, in Mytilene is the new archbishop of the Aegean and metropolitan of Naxos-Andros-Tinos-Mykonos and apostolic vicar of the Diocese of Chios (to which the catholic community of Mytilene belongs) Joseph Printezis.
