The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiadis, met today with the Heads of State and Government on the sidelines of the United Nations Summit on Climate Change (COP26).
President Anastasiadis arrived this morning at the Glasgow Summit, where he was received by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson, whose country is hosting the Summit, and by the Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres.
Afterwards, Mr. Anastasiadis had the opportunity on the sidelines of the Summit to have contacts, among others, with the President of the European Council, the President of Egypt, the President of Ukraine, the Prime Ministers of Spain, Malta, Luxembourg and Libya. Kenya, Kuwait, and others with whom he discussed issues of common interest relating to the agenda of the Summit.
Afterwards, President Anastasiadis attended the speeches of the Heads of State who spoke at the opening of the Summit today.
In the afternoon, the President of the Republic will attend the reception given in honor of the Heads of State and Government participating in the Summit, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
At the Summit, the President of the Republic was accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment of Cyprus Costas Kadis, the government representative Marios Pelekanos and the High Commissioner of the Republic in the United Kingdom Andreas Kakouris.
Tomorrow, the President of the Republic will make his own speech at the COP26 Summit.
