The Government's intention is that there should be no ambiguity surrounding the Cyprus-Greece electrical interconnection, said the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulidis, on Thursday evening, after the Government's decision to proceed with a meeting of all parties in Cyprus next Tuesday for the subject.
Answering a question, attending the opening of a hall that will house the Cultural Club, the Hunting Association and the Sports Association of the English Eagle, the President said that “as a government we are solely accountable to the Cypriot people and any decision we make will primarily serve the interests of the Cypriot people “.
He added that, taking into account the history of major projects in our country, “we will do everything possible to ensure that there is not the slightest doubt about any issue regarding this strategically important project”. It is for this reason, he added, “that we took the initiative to hold this meeting in Nicosia, in the presence of everyone, so that every last detail can be answered”.
President Christodoulidis reiterated that “we are here to serve the interests of the Cypriot people, we are accountable to the Cypriot people and especially in such large projects there is no possibility, nor intention on our part, for there to be any ambiguity”.
Finally, he expressed his hope, the meeting should lead to such results “that will lead us to a decision, which will serve the interests of the Cypriot people”.
