Presidential assurances: There will be no cover-up in the Vasilikos case

“Those who are responsible for having bad contracts or anything, through the results of the investigation of the European Public Prosecutor's Office that nobody he cannot dispute it, they will be brought to justice”

The assurance that there will be no cover-up for anyone in relation to the investigations into the Royal Palace, was given today by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulidis.

In his statements after the memorial service of Patriarch Makarios III, in the Holy Monastery of Kykkos, and in response to a question whether the Government will conduct an investigation regarding the case of Vassilikos, President Christodoulidis stated that “from the beginning we have been cooperating with the European Public Prosecutor's Office and I want today to say publicly: nothing will remain hidden in relation to this specific issue”.

He added that “all this must be forgotten. There is absolutely no attempt and will not be made, and I personally take responsibility, to cover up anyone. No one is above the legitimacy and interests of the Republic of Cyprus. I want to be clear and straightforward on this particular issue”, he stressed.

Asked what responsibility he himself assumes, President Christodoulidis said that those responsible for bad contracts or anything, through the results of the investigation European Public Prosecutor's Office which no one can dispute, they will be brought to justice. “Absolutely no cover-up for anyone. And it is a clear message to the Cypriot people”, he said.
