The Earthshot Award recognizes five winners for their contribution to environmental protection and is named after US President John F. Kennedy's 'Moonshot'
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are set to make their first visit to America in eight years for the Earthshot Awards ceremony.
The couple announced via Twitter that the Earthshot Prizes will be held in Boston in December. “In 2022, we're coming back and bringing the Earthshot Awards to the US, where we'll be awarding the next five winners,” William said in a video. Then came Boston Red player Xander Bogaerts, who added, “And we're going to do it here in Boston.”
The Earthshot Award is presented to five winners each year for their contribution in environmental protection and its name is inspired by the “Moonshot”, (the big leap), of the President of the USA, John Kennedy. It was launched in 2020 by the Duke of Cambridge and Sir David Attenborough. This year it will partner with the JFK Library Foundation to host the ceremony.
