According to the figures of the General Accounting Office of the Republic, the amount spent amounted to 1.4 million euros, marking an increase of 400 thousand euros compared to 2022, when the expenses amounted to 1 million euros.</p> <p>The payments made by the School Ephories covered the guarding of all school units in Cyprus during the months of operation of the school units. Therefore, the amount is fully justified, as the chairman of the Coordinating Committee of School Ephorates, Mr. Dinos Hellinas, told “P”. He used as an example the payments of the Ephorate of Hellenic Schools of Limassol, which presented the highest cost, reaching 171 thousand euros. As he explained, this ephorate includes 15 high schools and high schools. Based on the hourly guarding cost of 8 euros, the total amount is within the forecasts. He pointed out that the purchase of services for the guards is always done according to the prescribed procedures. There is no question, he said, of mismanagement of funds.</p> <p><b>The guarding system will be extended in September </b></p> <p>Not only all high schools and technical schools will be under guarding , since with the beginning of the new year all high schools will be included in the guarding system, the head of the Office of Civil Defense, Health Security, Dr. Ilias Markatziis.</p> <p>Asked whether this extension will increase the already existing amount of 1.4 million euros, Dr. Markatziis said that he cannot make such a prediction. However, he noted that there may be savings from other measures so that the total amount does not increase.</p> <p>As for the effectiveness of the measures taken so far, Mr. Markatziis expressed modest optimism that there are no extreme incidents of delinquency and malicious acts on school grounds. “In the long run, we will be able to talk about comparable results”, concluded Dr. Markatziis.</p> <p><b>How to calculate the cost of custody for a high school:</b></p> <p>7 hours per day x 21 working days x 10 months x 8 euros/hour = 11,760 euros.</p> <p><b>School tax offices</b></p> <p>The following is information about the school tax offices located between first five in the list of the General Accounting Office.</p> <p>Ephorate of Greek Schools of Limassol: €171,725</p> <p>School Ephorate of Strovolos: €164,850</p> <p>Ephorate of Paphos School: €124,623</p> <p>School Board of Larnaca: €121,762</p> <p>Board of Greek Schools of Nicosia: €88,852</p> <p><noindex></p> <div class=Source: politis.com.cy
