    The need to create hepatology clinicand specialization for the monitoring of liver transplant patients was underlined by the Association of Liver Patients and Friends of Cyprus “Prometheus”, at its election meeting held on Saturday afternoon.

    As stated in an announcement by the Association, its President, Giannoula Koullas, expressed her dissatisfaction with the stagnation observed since 2022 on the part of OKYpY, in relation to the recruitment of specialized doctors and the creation of a Hepatology Clinic in Cyprus.

    Furthermore, he asked for immediate solutions to the hospitalization and post-operative care of liver transplant patients, while he expressed the hope that the OKYPY will adhere to the timetables set by the Health Committee at last Thursday's session, on the one hand for the hospitalization of liver transplant patients in existing Transplant Clinic of the Nicosia General Hospital, and on the other hand to announce the names of the doctors as well as the center abroad, where they will be sent to be trained.

    After the Election Assembly, an event was held in which the Archbishop of Cyprus George and the General Director of the Ministry of Health, Christina Giannaki, on behalf of the Minister of Health, Michalis Damianou, addressed a greeting.

    It is noted that in the context of event were honored for their contribution and support to the actions of the Association, the General Director of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Christina Giannaki, the patients Angelos Siikkis, Iota Papadopoulou, Charalambos Evangelou, Voulla Menelaou Paliou and the Editor-in-Chief – Journalist, Konstantinos Athanasiou.

    The new Board of Directors consists of Giannoulla Koullas, Savvas Milios, Pampos Evangelou, Emmelia Vounou, Annie Marie Hevicon, Ioanna Pavlikka, Tonia Hatzigeorgiou and Nikos Nikolaou.
