During the meeting “the concern of all local actors in the province of Larnaca was expressed about the phenomenon of odor, which is especially intense this year and the competent Departments of the State were asked to take immediate measures.”

After a discussion, it was decided that “legislation for the proper treatment of waste in livestock units should be promoted in Parliament (separation of liquid waste from solids and creation of treatment plants). It was also decided to modify the code of good agricultural practice to include the direct incorporation of manure in the field after its transfer and dispersal in it “.

It was also decided to “include in the code and penalties for those who will not comply and to increase the information programs by the Departments of Agriculture and Environment of livestock and farmers for the proper management of liquid and solid fodder waste. Also at the meeting it was decided that Authorities of Local Authorities should be authorized to impose extrajudicial fines regarding the improper management of liquid and solid fodder waste both in the units and during their transport and disposal in the fields “.
