Criminal proceedings were brought against Olympiacos president Vangelis Marinakis and team management members Giannis Moralis, Kostas Karapapas, Michalis Kountouris and Dimitris Agrafiotis in the case of the murder of police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis, who lost his life from a naval flare during incidents in Rentis in December 2023.
The 5 men are accused of the offenses of supporting – financing – a criminal organization and inciting sports violence and next Tuesday they will be called to testify before the 9th regular investigator who is handling the large case file with more than 160 defendants for the criminal organization of hooligans, whose actions, among other things, include the murder of riot police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis with a naval flare.
The members of the administration were not among the original defendants, but their summons comes approximately seven months after the specific judicial officer took over the case and after dozens of witnesses were examined and additional statements were given by the defendants.
At the same time, the investigator now has in his hands all the evidence from the video footage that was analyzed at the Police Forensic Laboratories.
Their involvement
In particular, as stated regarding the leadership of OLYMPIACOS FC in the case file that was formed after the murder of the unfortunate police officer: “it cannot be ruled out that the criminal organization is managed, covertly and at the highest level, by members of the administration or executives of OLYMPIACOS FC (football team) and the sports club with the name “OLYMICAL ASSOCIATION OF PIRAEUS FANS” (OSFP)., without whose participation and “high protection”, the leading members of the criminal organization would not have the universal and unquestionable acceptance and obedience of the lower members and consequently the criminal organization would not exist, otherwise it would have a very limited scope and action…“
