A protest event is being organized on Sunday by the Association of Docked Boat Owners of Cyprus, in relation to the increases in boat mooring fees, promoted by Kition Ocean Marina, with the tolerance of the Ministry of Transport, as it reports. In a letter dated February 24 to the Ministry of Transport, the Cypriot Association of Docked Vessel Owners, states that the Kition Ocean Marina company imposed on the owners a 15% increase in berthing fees, with the promise that they would proceed immediately with upgrading projects of Marina. He also mentions that the projects that the company has carried out to date do not concern upgrading but partial and absolutely necessary maintenance in the marine area of the Marina.

In the letter it is pointed out that any decision to approve the increases in berthing fees is an extremely unfavorable measure for boat owners and is completely unjustified given the conditions prevailing in the marina.

They call on the Ministry of Transport to immediately send a copy of any decision of the Ministry on the basis of which they have approved or not, the increase in the berthing fees of the Larnaca Marina as well as a copy of the terms of the agreement granting the management of the Larnaca Marina to the company. They also request information regarding the procedures regarding the control of the legality of the Company's decisions and/or actions and/or omissions by the Ministry, as well as the ways in which the rights of the Boat Owners of the Larnaca Marina are ensured.

The protest event is expected to take place on Sunday 5 March 2023 between 10.30am. and 1.00 p.m. in the area of the Larnaca Marina (gatherings in the areas of the land entrances and wider sea area of the Larnaca Marina – Athens/Finikoud Avenues).
