The Government's decision to create Technical High Schools that will operate within 2025, following the standards of Sports and Music Schools, was announced today by the President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis < p>Speaking to the children and teachers of the 3rd Technical School, the President of the Republic said, among other things, that “I am here on the occasion of the start of the school year and I asked the Minister of Education to specifically visit your school. And the reason I decided this is because as the government of the country with an excellent Minister of Education, who knows all subjects and loves Education, we give special importance to technical education.
If we want to achieve development that will have time depth we must invest in technical education.
As a state, for us there are two areas in which we have a responsibility towards all citizens. These are the fields of Education and Health. We have an obligation to offer all our citizens equal opportunities. That is why we invest more in the Education and Health sectors than any other sector.
It is for this reason that in Education we started with bold reforms, we have a reform program that we will implement until the end, that is why in the past time we have moved forward with changes in the subject of student evaluation, curricula, school equipment. We will move forward with the subject of the evaluation of teachers, an issue that has been pending for years, with the upgrading of school infrastructure, to solve an issue that has existed for 20, 30 years , 40 years, the issue of air conditioners, and we will solve it during our own governance.
I want to dwell on the issue of technical education, because if we really want to achieve progress and development in this country, it is necessary for us to be able to function as a state, to have a prosperous society. To be proud of responding to our citizens, we must invest in technical education.
It is for this reason that I want to announce today our decision to proceed from 2025 to the establishment of Technical High Schools< /strong>, on the model of sports and music schools. From 2025, Technical High Schools will also operate as an indication of the importance we give to technical education, the need to connect our education, our Education, with the labor market.
We are currently building two Technical Schools , one in Limassol and one in Larnaca and very soon we will announce one more in the area around Nicosia.
