Pursuit and arrest of a 37-year-old man – He was driving a vehicle with stolen plates

The Police proceeded to arrest a 37-year-old man yesterday, to facilitate investigations regarding an investigated case of car theft, theft of vehicle registration plates and illegal possession of property.

Specifically, around 3.10 p.m. .m. yesterday, members of the OPE Limassol, who were on motorized patrol, spotted a car driving on a street in Limassol, carrying stolen registration plates. The members of the Police signaled the driver to stop for a check, but he tried to escape. The policemen followed him and managed to stop him at a close distance.

From the tests that followed, it was found that the driver of the vehicle was a 37-year-old resident of Limassol, while after the actual details of the vehicle were identified, it was found that it had been reported to the Police, as a theft, on May 4, 2023. From further examinations, a mobile phone and other items were found inside the vehicle and confiscated, for which the 37-year-old did not give satisfactory explanations as to how they came into his possession.

< p> The 37-year-old was arrested for spontaneous offenses and taken into custody to facilitate investigations. This morning he was brought before the District Court of Limassol, which issued a five-day detention order against him.

The TAE Limassol is investigating the case.
