The report, which was briefly presented by the Auditor General during the meeting, refers to arbitrary interventions in the beach protection zone, assignment of work to contractors without tender, acquisition of a plot by the Mayor and subsequent development of the area, and the establishment of a non-profit company. in which the Mayor also participated, who, according to Odysseas Michailidis, received privileged information.
“This company receives privileged information from the Municipalities and then conducts studies by bypassing the legal procedures”, he added the Auditor General.
Mr. Michailidis accused the Municipality of Paralimni of not answering questions from the Audit Office because the complaints he had received were anonymous. In fact, said Mr. Michailidis, “the Municipality tells us if you do not give me the name of the complainants, I will not answer you.”

He added that the authorization is valid for a period of five years after he leaves the position of Mayor.

He also stated that after the publication of the report, in a letter to the Attorney General on September 29, 2021, he asked to be informed about how many cases were investigated against him.
As he stated, the Attorney General replied that two cases were investigated. In the first case, it was decided not to prosecute because the Municipality had received legal advice and in the second, which concerned abuse of power, it was found that he had nothing to do with the allegations, according to Mr. Pyrillis.
“The Auditor General in many cases went to the Attorney General because I was interrogated too many times by the Police, but he does not say what the result is,” he added.
In relation to the non-profit company, TEVEA, Mr. Pyrillis said that the idea for the creation of this non-profit company, started from all the Mayors of the province and operates as a chamber. “We did not give a single cent commission, in our files there is nothing from what the Auditor General says, he got the information from the Municipality of Ayia Napa”, he said.
